Reviews for the “You Are Beautiful E.P.”
.
“Ultra smooth vocals throughout, combined with soaring acoustic guitar, deliver a contagious vibe and lyrics to savor. These guys can flat out write music. Bottom line, EP or not, it is rare to find albums as complete as “You Are Beautiful.” Solid CD from top to bottom. You’ll never find yourself with your finger on the fast forward.”Corey Koehler - Musicgoat.com"O’Neill And Wean are so syrupy with their acoustic, barstool wisdom, but they’re also tricky, convoluted popsters. The You Are Beautiful EP plunges through the sweet of the heart while mining for bile. “I Found Out” spits deranged eulogies for the still-breathing: “We’ll be dead,” cries lead singer Billy O’Neill (oh my god) before “Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)” takes over. The minor-chorded “Breakdown” is more resigned than the lot. With depressed vocals free of contrary elation, O’Neill is a ringer for early Elliott Smith."Mike Meyer - Illinois Entertainer“Billy O’Neill (Oh My God) and Dan Wean (Easy Tiger) create something that’s a cross between’s Mraz’s singer/songwriter humor funk, punk folk, David Bazan’s frontal lobe attack, and Jason Anderson’s community folk. Wean bends the strings of an acoustic guitar on “Breakdown” that unleashes more sonic energy than the lone guitar instrumentation would suggest.”Music Spectrum Review"Once in a while a collision of truly organic musical elements occurs resulting in a creation of true resonant honesty and passion. What is remarkable about O’Neill and Wean is that they effortlessly create this in a world where nearly every single thing is steeped in its own self awareness. Rumors that they have stumbled across a porthole into the brain of John Malkovich like in the movie are untrue. It’s a porthole into Pat Sajak’s brain"Flabby Hoffman “O'Neill & Wean do have the chops. They are an acoustical rock-jamming machine that plays catchy upbeat tunes and nice harmonies.”Chickenfish Speaks Review Classic. Not a bad song on the disc. One of the best discs I’ve bought in the last two years!Musicgoat "You guys are like if Henry the 8th were a superstar poet and Bojangles wrote symphonies on the geetar." Russell "I'm like a new-born babe. I have emerged from rehab covered in shame and afterbirth." Joe Yesterday (Shred Eagle)"You have no idea how much this project excites me." Pam "I listened...then I cried." Stephanie "WOW! Great CD! I only wish there were more songs! "Human Condition" makes me cry every time I listen to it"Fan on CD Baby
